I tested my new Sony GPS Unit right now although driving with the car. I recommend to use the GPS Picture Tracker computer software that comes with the GPS Unit to assign, match the GPS, i.e. geotag the pictures by writing the latitude and longitude coordinates into the EXIF metadata of the JPG images and then use Picasa to get them into Google Earth to view them on the map. To visualize the route a bit better you can convert the log files with the GPS information into a .kml or .kmz file that you can then open with Google Earth here:

Using Picasa and Google Earth you can also very easily right the position of the images because it is not constantly a hundred% precise due to numerous factors.
